Immensely helps older M20's with the metal (or Guppy mouth) cowl by enclosing the lower half of the old (oversize) gaping cooling inlet reducing it from about 174 sq. in. to approx. 125 sq. in. w/an attractive F/Glass fairing; or lower f/glass "cowl smile". While higher speed claims have been made by others, we find it usually adds 3-4 MPH in the real world while helping to lower oil temps and assist in "shock cooling" etc. while making the subject M20 appear much more modern. Few mods are as economical and cost effective as this when comparing cost VS "real world" benefit. Note: Our price is for a custom fitted "between the seams" installation at our facility. We caution when considering this mod to only have an experienced Mooney mod shop install it as we have seen many "botched" installs where it hasn't been fitted exactly to the specific M20 and actually was plastered on the outside of the cowl (as per mfg's enclosed instructions, no less), rather than having the cowl's rivets removed and the new part inserted in the manner which we have perfected. |
